INYA PerfectRoofing & exterior servicesEvery layer and transition has a job. We explain the roofing system proposed for your home so you understand what is included before work begins.
The complete system
The visible, layered asphalt shingles shed water and define the finished look of the roof. Color and product selection are part of the estimate.
A layer over the roof deck provides secondary protection beneath the shingles. It works as part of the complete roof system.
A self-adhering leak barrier adds protection at vulnerable areas, such as valleys and penetrations, where specified for your roof.
Metal edging helps direct roof runoff away from the deck edges and toward the gutter system.
Flashing manages water at roof-to-wall transitions, chimneys and other intersections. These details deserve attention during both repairs and replacement.
A suitable ridge vent, paired with adequate intake ventilation, helps move attic air. The right ventilation approach depends on the roof and attic.
Every roof is different. Materials, ventilation, leak-barrier placement and installation details vary with roof design, deck condition, manufacturer instructions and applicable requirements. Your written scope identifies the system proposed for your home.

After tear-off, exposed decking can be reviewed. Any needed deck work should be discussed and documented.

Underlayment and specified water-protection details are installed as part of the proposed system.

Shingles, transition details and ventilation are completed, followed by cleanup and a review of the work.
Before installation
Ask your estimate to identify the shingle product, underlayment, leak barriers, drip edge, flashing, ventilation, deck repair allowances and cleanup. The exact materials and installation approach can vary; the written proposal should make those choices clear.
Discuss workmanship and manufacturer warranties separately before approving the project.
